I began researching the use of Henna as a form of body decoration for a friend in June of 1996. She hoped I could use my creative abilities to decorate the members of her wedding party with beautiful Henna tattoos in traditional African patterns. I thought it was a great way to finally put my Bachelor's Degree in Art History and Design to work!
The Traditional method is obviously very complicated and time intensive. Over the past year I have found ways to cut the preparation and decorating times down to minutes instead of hours and reduced the time it takes the designs to "set" as well. The process is now perfect for the fast paced life style of people on the go. Most simple designs take only fifteen minutes to complete! Thus "Timid Tattoos" was born.
The response to my work has been phenomenal...I'm not sure why, but I believe that many people have a deep, dark, desire to get a tattoo, but don't like the pain, the cost, and the permanency. Henna tattoos are painless, affordable, and temporary.
